Dr Sahni Runs a skin cancer clinic 5 days a week at Mascot medical and dental centre
Dr Sahni offers comprehensive skin cancer checks and examines your skin thoroughly for any signs of skin abnormalities or potential melanomas
If a suspicious lesion or skin cancer is found during the examination Dr Sahni will organise either a skin biopsy to rule out a skin cancer or proceed to excision of the cancer. This can all be done in the same week as your appointment or a date of your choosing.
Mascot medical and dental is fully equipped with its procedure room meeting the RACGP accreditation standards so all skin biopsy and skin cancer excisions can be performed on site.
Usually results are available in 8-10 days time which is when we ask you to come back to give you the results from the pathologist, review the wound, and remove the sutures.
A skin cancer check is generally completed in a fifteen-minute consultation and is a simple non invasive process. It starts with a history of your sun exposure to work out your skin cancer skin.
During skin checks, Dr Sahni will examine your skin using the latest technology: a hand-held skin microscope called a dermatoscope, recording any spots of interest. This will require a full head to toe examination of your skin. To make sure nothing is missed in a full skin check you will be asked to undress to your underwear but patient gowns are available for modesty.
Some times its important to feel the skin in addition to looking as some skin cancers have a different texture.
If following up from a previous melanoma, Dr Sahni will check your liver and lymph nodes (neck, armpits and groin)
